Flashing OpenRG routers

Apparently, my ISP uses a custom firmware. It seems to be called OpenRG, which I haven’t heard of before. It only allows access to the router via the web, and you log in with your user ID and password for your ISP account.
Perhaps this is good, in that it makes it damn near impossible to break into the router (as far as I can tell). However, if you DO want to customize the firmware, I found this very nice “DIY” thread at here (dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=267…). It’s in the DD-WRT forum under the heading “D’link DIR-868L Optimum, Need help with flashing.”
As other ISPs are probably going this route, you may want to take a look at it.

Often the ISPs ship low standard routers so then need replacing if you want to be a “power” user!

Be careful if you flash it. If it doesn’t go smooth you will be without Internet! Thats another reason why I like a second router.
