Replacing wifi card security issues? is it safe?

Thank you all in advance for any and all thoughts, recommendations, etc…
and I apologize in advance if this is a ridiculous question…

After messing around with just about every setting on my laptop, and still having internet connection issues, I think I am left with having to replace my wifi card. I have an Acer Nitro AN515-42, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.00 GHz. Windows 10 Home. The network card is a Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A Wireless Network Adapter.

My question is:
Is it safe from a security standpoint to buy a used replacement card? I am not opposed to buying a new one, but doing a fast, quick search online, it seems that used ones are predominant.

Do I need to worry about malicious code, software, etc. that could be hidden or embedded in a used wifi card? Is that even a thing or am I just being paranoid?

Thanks again for the help, thoughts and opinions!

Hi, I think you will be safe if you buy it from reputed sellers. I don’t think there is malicious software that one can put on NICs but people can change the entire hardware with malicious hardware. But chances of that are low.

Good to know.

Thanks for your input!
